We learn to measure

Imagen
Hi mates, today I'm going to share a video in which we can see a proposal to carry out in our classes. This video shows how we can introduce the term 'length' to students, and how they can measure. It is very interest because we can see how students think about how to measure the same thing with different objects. I hope it will be useful for you.

Measure Apps

Hi! Today i'm going to show you some apps in which students can work some aspects about the learning of measure in a different way, learning by gaming. This methodology is known as gamification. 1- Geoboard: A very curious and well developed app to learn geometry from the perspective of Primary and Secondary education. Geoboard provides us with a work table in which, with a series of ropes, we will have to draw certain polygons. This process will help us to calculate areas and lengths, which in turn will help reinforce different concepts of geometry and Mathematics in the school setting. If you want to test it thoroughly you can access the  web version  and discover its possibilities. 2- Dragón Box Elements : This APP is from 6 to 9 years old children because it has different levels. This is a strategy video game in which children develop the geometric logic. They create geometric shapes.  The main objective is to learn the foundations of geometry buildi...

Experiment with an orange

Imagen
Hello, today i'm going to show you an experiment that you can use in your classes of geometry. It shows the explanation, and why the area of the sphere is four times the area of the circle. MATERIALS - An orange - A pen - A paper PROCESS 1. To start with it, you have to put the orange in the paper, and draw with the pen the maximum circle that the orange has. You have to do it four times (four circles). 2. Now you have to peel the orange, making the pieces the smallest you can. 3. The small pieces of the skin of the orange will be introduced in the circles, without any hole, as a puzzle. 4. In this way we can ensure that all the skin fits in the four circles. EXPLANATION With this experiments, you can show students that the area of the sphere is four times  the area of the circle, as the area of the circle is: And the area of the sphere is four time of the previous one: Here you have the video of the demonstration:

Introduction

Hi, my name is Carmen, and I'm doing this blog for the subject of Didactics of measurement. The purpose of this blog is to show you everything that I think is important of the measure. New tools to carry out with students to teach it in a different way. More visual and didactic, to keep their attention. I hope you will enjoy this blog and learn new things to use with children in primary school.
